The 2011 edition of Best Children's Hospitals by U.S. News & World Report once again placed Texas Children's Hospital on the Honor Roll of best pediatric institutions for the third consecutive year. Texas Children's is 1 of only 11 hospitals in the nation to achieve the Honor Roll designation and is the only hospital in the entire central, southern and western regions of the United States that ranked in the top 10 in 9 out of 10 categories.

U.S. News based its rankings on requested data from 177 pediatric centers as well as survey results from thousands of physicians in 10 pediatric specialties. A hospital's inclusion depends primarily on how well it scores in medical outcomes and in care-related indicators of quality, including patient safety and staffing.
