The dermatology clinic provides diagnosis,
treatment and follow-up care for patients with both common and rare pediatric
dermatological conditions such as eczema, psoriasis, acne, vascular
and other birthmarks (including
infantile hemangiomas and
PHACE syndrome), moles, vitiligo, genetic skin diseases, and skin
manifestations of systemic diseases such as lupus erythematosus and
diabetes. In addition to treating the skin, the clinic's doctors also
specialize in disorders of the hair and nails.
The clinic's physicians are skilled in
laser and skin surgery. The clinic also offers a narrow-band UVB phototherapy
unit, used to treat a variety of skin disorders.
Denise W. Metry, M.D., who has served as clinic chief
and lead physician of the hemangioma clinic, is away on sabbatical until 2013.
She will remain in charge of the clinic's PHACE syndrome patient registry.
Patients are seen through
self-referral or physician referrals.
