Orientation to the Halliwick Method And Aquatic Applications for Individuals Who are Obese
April 21, 2012

Originating in England with James McMillan, the Halliwick Method of swim instruction utilizes principles of hydromechanics to facilitate independent movement in water for individuals with physical disabilities. A highly individualized approach, the Halliwick method uses no flotation devices, emphasizes body control and breathing, and can easily be adapted in a group setting. Halliwick is particularly successful for individuals with more severe physical disability. This presentation provides the opportunity to, through video, see the great potential Halliwick method has for fostering aquatic independence for individuals with disabilities. Learn more
