Texas Children’s Urology Division

The Urology Division at Texas Children’s Hospital offers exemplary surgical care for routine urological needs as well as genitourinary problems related to congenital birth defects, trauma and a range of other medical conditions.

Our urologists have special expertise in minimally invasive, laparoscopic surgical techniques – including extremely delicate procedures in newborns and infants – anorectal malformations, urological conditions caused by neurological problems, such as spina bifida, and management of stone disease.

Clinics (urologic and multidisciplinary) are provided for:

  • Anorectal malformation
  • Bladder extrophy and complex bladder reconstruction
  • Gender ambiguity and surgical reconstruction of these anomalies
  • Kidney Stone
  • Obstructive uropathy
  • Repair of genital abnormalities in males including hypospadias correction and testicular auto-transplantation
  • Routine urological consultation and voiding disorders
  • Spina bifida
  • Vesicoureteral reflux and urinary tract infection

We work closely with child life specialists, who provide support to help patients and their families cope with the challenges often presented by urological disorders. Long-term follow-up care is provided for patients who have difficulty transitioning to adult care.
