Texas Children's Hospital 2011 Spirituality in Pediatrics
Conference
Marriott Houston at the Texas Medical Center
6850 Fannin Street
Houston, TX 77030
The Auxiliary to Texas Children's Hospital presents the 2011 Conference on Spirituality
in Pediatrics, a dynamic conference which explores the impact that pediatric care
providers can have on the spiritual needs and concerns of children and their families
during illness.
This year's three day conference focuses on the role of spirituality within
a pediatrics healthcare setting. Key leaders in the fields of both spirituality
and pediatrics bring the latest in research and share best practice information
with healthcare professionals and spiritual leaders.
In an interdisciplinary setting, attendees will learn aspects of spirituality
in medicine, models of children's spiritual development and methods for meeting
spiritual needs of families, children and caregivers.
At the 2011 conference, attendees will:
- Learn about how a child can make meaning from the pain and how he/she can square
up his/her beliefs with his/her experiences.
- Find out about the brain’s mirror neuron system and why we feel the pain of others
- Learn about how to use your heart and hands to heal the little ones in a dynamic
presentation on Healing Touch
- Listen to a performance by patients who have participated in Purple Songs can
Fly, and hear about this amazing Musical Arts in Medicine Program.
