Children's employees. Program begins at 4:30 PM.

Barbara has over 30 years of pediatric
nursing experience. Since 2001, Barbara has been the
Clinical Nurse Specialist for the Progressive Care Unit
at TCH. One of her clinical responsibilities is
coordinating education for families of
technology-dependent children. She is also helping
develop the Palliative Care Program at TCH and has a
special interest in bioethics.
Over the years, she has spoken nationally and
internationally. She has published in peer-reviewed journals
and authored chapters in medical and nursing textbooks.
Recent publications and research interests relate to the
management of technology-dependent children.
She serves on the hospital’s Bioethics
Committee. She is a member of the American Association of
Critical-Care Nurses, the American Academy of Pediatrics and
the Pediatric Urology Nurses Specialists Organization.
Her commitment to quality care for children
extends internationally. Since 2004 she has served as a
board member for the non-profit medical organization, IVUmed,
developing education materials for doctors and nurses in low
resource countries. She has worked as a surgical nurse and
educator on IVUmed missions in Central America, Asia and
Africa. |
