The Center for TeleHealth provides clinical, educational and research services to remote areas within the United States and internationally. This is made possible through state-of-the-art approaches employing multimedia, information and telecommunication technologies available within this center.

The clinical and research aspects of the telemedicine service provide access to the pediatric specialty and subspecialty expertise within the hospital. Physicians at Texas Children's are able to review multimedia patient records and, where required, interact directly with the patient or the physician using video-conferencing technology to provide consultation services at a distance. These technologies also enable clinical faculty to collaborate on clinical studies at a distance.

The center provides educational services at a distance to physicians, nurses, other health care providers, students, and to patients and their parents using video-conferencing and Internet technologies. Center approaches are also being used in support of wellness initiatives for employees and their families in the corporate setting.
