HOUSTON – (Oct. 9, 2009) – The Feigin Center at Texas Children's Hospital was named the “Best Higher Education/Research Project” in Texas Construction magazine’s Best of 2009 awards program.

This annual competition honors commercial construction and design excellence from across Texas and Oklahoma. An independent jury of industry experts judged more than 150 nominated projects based on entry criteria, including safety; innovation; contribution to the community or industry; construction quality and craftsmanship; and function and aesthetic quality of design.

The Feigin Center was recognized for an eight-floor expansion, designed by FKP Architects and built by W.S. Bellows Construction. The addition includes a state-of-the-art clinical simulation center, expanded laboratory space and unique collaboration areas designed for accelerating new discoveries that can be translated into more effective treatments for children.

One of five top scoring finalists among all entries, the Feigin Center will be entered into the National Best of 2009 awards that will be featured in the December issue of Texas Construction and highlighted on www.texas.contruction.com.
