HOUSTON – (Mar. 26, 2010)
– In the midst of its largest expansion project ever, Texas
Children’s Hospital has been honored as Texas Construction
magazine’s 2010 Owner of the Year.
The magazine presents this
award each year to a facility owner that has demonstrated excellence
in innovation, vision and in its commitment to meeting the needs of
its community. Winners are also selected based on their reputation
in the construction industry and volume of construction work.
Texas Children’s met those
criteria in a number of areas, but especially through its work on
its $1.5 billion Vision 2010 initiative. This expansion includes
renovations to the Feigin Center, one of Texas Children’s primary
research buildings, and construction of three new facilities: the
Jan and Dan Duncan Neurological Research Institute, the Maternity
Center and the new West Campus hospital. To learn more about Vision
2010, visit: http://bit.ly/ar3GZn.
When completed, these
efforts will greatly enhance Texas Children’s research capabilities
and its ability to care for children and expectant mothers
throughout the Houston region.
“During the past four years,
we’ve made incredible progress on the Vision 2010 initiative’s
facilities while maintaining our focus or research, education and
care,” said Peter Dawson AIA, the hospital’s senior vice president
for Facilities. “This award is a testament to all the hard work our
staff and our partners have put in to grow the hospital without
losing sight of our mission.”
This isn’t the first time
Texas Children’s has been honored for its Vision 2010 facilities.
Texas Construction highlighted the Neurological Research Institute
and Maternity Center in its August issue and the Feigin Center was
named an honorable mention Laboratory of the Year by both R&D
Magazine and Texas Architect magazine.
Texas Children’s will be
featured in the May issue of Texas Construction, which will be
available online at
