Pediatric Academic Societies elects physician from Texas Children’s Hospital as Program Committee Chair

HOUSTON – (Aug. 10, 2010) – Dr. Gail Demmler-Harrison has been recently elected into the prestigious position of Program Committee Chair for Pediatric Academic Societies (PAS). As the leading professional organization, PAS represents many academic pediatricians and pediatric subspecialists in the U.S. and worldwide.

Dr. Demmler-Harrison will lead the PAS Program Committee in developing, organizing and coordinating the scientific program for the entire PAS annual meeting during her three-year term as chair.

“This is an extremely prestigious, high-profile position that will bring visibility and distinction to Baylor College of Medicine and Texas Children's Hospital,” said Dr. Mark Kline, Physician-in-chief. “This recognition is a testament to the high regard the pediatric community has for Dr. Demmler-Harrison’s capabilities, accomplishments, commitment and work ethic.”

Dr. Demmler-Harrison is the attending physician of Infectious Diseases and the Virology Lab Director at Texas Children’s Hospital, and a professor of Pediatrics at Baylor College of Medicine. She is a contributing writer and associate editor of several infectious diseases reports, journals and textbooks and involved in numerous professional organizations and societies.
