Commitment to excellence and service is the philosophy of Texas Children’s Hospital Pharmacy Department.
The clinical pharmacy staff works with the pharmacists, students, and residents to increase professional
development, clinical involvement, and expand the understanding of pharmacotherapy specific to the pediatric
population.
The residency program at Texas Children’s Hospital has been in place since
1996.
The residency is a one year program that is heavily weighted in direct patient care.
The program allows for tailored instruction for the resident based on interests and past experience.
The preceptors are dedicated to the residency program. The residency program at Texas Children's
Hospital will train pharmacists to serve as authoritative resources in the application, use,
research, and optimization of medications in pediatric patients. Additionally, the program will
train pharmacists in practice management skills and to effectively educate pediatric healthcare
practitioners. The program start date is around July 1st.
