Since its inception in 1984,
Texas Children's Hospital Heart Transplant Program has
performed more than 250 heart transplants, making it one of the
largest and most successful programs in the nation.
Today, the Heart Transplant Program offers decades
of experience, compassion and state-of-the-art
facilities to help children who need it most survive – and thrive.
Texas Children's Heart
Transplant Program's
multidisciplinary team evaluates, treats and
follows children who need or have received heart
transplants.
Our highly experienced and
skilled team encourages parents and patients to ask questions during the course of
treatment. It is our goal to make this experience as
positive as possible for patients and their families.
We are active participants
in the National Pediatric Cardiomyopathy Registry,
which was established to describe and understand the
clinical course of children with cardiomyophathy.
Insurance information and
referrals
Because Texas Children's heart transplant
team must thoroughly evaluate your child before he or she can be
listed for heart transplantation, Texas
Children's Heart Transplant Program encourages early referrals. We
accept self-referrals and referrals from physicians.
If you are a physician and wish to refer a
patient or if you wish to self refer, please call 832-826-5707.
If Texas Children's is not on your child's
insurance plan's approved provider listing, our financial counselor will work with your insurance company to gain approval.
Texas Children's Heart Transplant Program
is a part of Humana's National Transplant Network.
