Texas Children’s AUTISM CENTER

The Autism Center at Texas Children's Hospital sees patients with autistic spectrum disorders or those suspected of having autism. The center provides diagnosis of autism and related conditions.

The Autism Center is a multidisciplinary effort of Neurology and Developmental Neuroscience in collaboration with the departments of Psychiatry, Psychology and Developmental Pediatrics. Working together, experts from these fields will conduct an extensive evaluation to form a diagnosis and a plan of intervention and therapy.

Common signs of autism include problems with social interaction, problems communicating with others and playing at developmentally appropriate levels, and a tendency to repeat the same actions over and over again. Early diagnosis is important for children with autism so that specific life skills may be taught.

Neurological evaluations for the Autism Center are conducted on Wednesdays.
