About the fellowship

The Division of Pediatric Urology offers a 2-year fellowship which includes one year of clinical pediatric urology experience and one year of research. Both clinical and basic science research are possible. One fellow is appointed each year. The fellow is expected to publish original research articles in the area of pediatric urology. Fellows may also apply for the advanced training courses at BCM such as the Clinical Scientist Training Program (CSTP).

The clinical year at Texas Children's Hospital offers a wide range of cases for the fellow, including robotic surgery and minimally invasive surgery, fetal surgery, and complex genitourinary reconstruction. The fellow supervises the multiple residents from several local programs that rotate at Texas Children's and actively participates in the teaching of the residents and medical students in conjunction with the faculty.

The fellowship is accredited by the ACGME, and graduates are eligible for the Pediatric Urology Subspecialty Certification (American Board of Urology).
